The Dartmouth College offers The Alfred K. Priest Fellowships for the year 2010/11 to Dartmouth Seniors and Recent Graduates in USA
The Alfred K. Priest fund was established at Dartmouth College through a bequest from Joseph K. Priest, in memory of his son. The income from the fund supports fellowships for graduates of Dartmouth College who have demonstrated unusual promise, enabling them to study in any graduate program at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Recipients of the award will be selected by the faculty Committee on Graduate Fellowships at Dartmouth.
Eligibility:
Any graduating senior or recent alumnus/a of Dartmouth College who has received an acceptance from a graduate program at Harvard University, and who expects to matriculate in the fall of 2009 may apply for a Priest Fellowship. Alumni/ae who are presently attending a graduate program at Harvard are also eligible to compete for the fellowship, although preference will be given to beginning graduate students.
Application Procedure:
A complete application file contains the following:
- Application Form
- Graduate School Application Personal Statement (approx.. 1000 words)
- Official Transcripts Please supply a transcript of all undergraduate and graduate courses
- Two Letters of Recommendation These can be your graduate school letters of recommendation. Both letters should be from Dartmouth instructors who know your work well. Please provide each recommender a Recommendation Request Form and a copy of your personal statement.
- A copy of the letter of acceptance from Harvard University
- A copy of the statement of financial analysis from Harvard.
Selection Process:
In the selection the Committee will be concerned with the applicants’ potential for excellence in their chosen fields and capacity for leadership. Financial need, however, is a significant factor. Extracurricular activities may be important to the extent that they give evidence of concerned commitment to these areas.
Amount of The Scholarship:
The exact amount of the award may vary from year to year. The present stipend is $10,000 a year, to be renewed each year until the proposed graduate degree has been awarded provided graduate study has not been interrupted and evidence of normal progress toward the degree is furnished regularly to the Committee, usually at the completion of each semester.
