The Technical University of Denmark offers The Associate Professor Position in Fermentation technology for the year 2010 in Denmark

Applications are invited for a position as Associate Professor at the Center for Microbial Biotechnology (CMB), Department of Systems Biology, DTU. An important part of the position is to function as scientific manager of the DTU Fermentation Platform.

Eligibility:

• Candidates must:

1. hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship
2. document didactic/pedagogic training

• The successful applicant should have in depth experience in quantitative physiology of industrially relevant micro-organisms, and have practical experience of cultivations and also general knowledge about fermentation equipment. Practical skills and knowledge of techniques for physiological analysis global to the cell, in particular fluxome analysis, is also desired. The person to be hired will be heading the fermentation platform with reference to the Head of Department and in addition to general fermentation knowledge also communication and organizational skills will be valued. The applicant should have the ability to communicate and collaborate with all groups of personnel. Moreover, teaching experience is viewed positively as teaching in fermentation technology is part of the platform activities where the scientific manager is expected to have a responsibility.

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:

• experience in teaching and education
• scientific production and research potential at an international level
• the ability to promote and utilize research results
• an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
• the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
