University of London insites applications from UK?EU residents to participate in the ESRC Quota 1+3/+3 Research Studentships for the year 2010/11 in UK
Three ESRC 1+3 studentships are available in the Department of Epidemiology & Population Health. These studentships cover both an MSc and a 3-year doctoral (PhD) programme in this internationally renowned, research-based institution. Please note that students may only apply for either the Proposal (open) competition or the Nominated (quota) award. Students cannot apply to both.
Eligibility Requirements
- For both of the 1+3 courses, applicants should have (or expect to obtain) either a Second-class Honours degree of a recognised university in science or a related subject, or a degree in medicine. In order to progress to doctoral studies, performance on the Master’s degree must be at a high level, well above the minimum required to pass.
- Applicants who already have (or expect to obtain) an ESRC-approved Master’s degree can apply to be supported for 3-year doctoral study only (‘+3′ studentship). Such applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a level of achievement on their Master’s degree well above the minimum required to pass.
How to apply:
- 1+3 Studentships
Those interested in being considered for a 1+3 Studentship should submit an application for the selected MSc. MSc Application forms. Please ensure that you indicate on your application form that you wish to be considered for this award.
- +3 Studentships
Those applying for a +3 studentship should submit a complete application for Research degree study. Research (MPhil/PhD) Application forms. Please ensure that you indicate on your application form that you wish to be considered for this award and enclose an outline of the proposed PhD topic of up to 3 pages.
Application deadline:
The deadline for receipt of complete applications under this scheme is 23 April 2010.
