Mortimer Hays-Brandeis Traveling Fellowship Program – 2011 – 2012 – Yale University – USA

Scholarship Introduction:

The Mortimer Hays-Brandeis Traveling Fellowship Program awards annually three fellowships to students in the visual and fine arts, specifically: art history, conservation, studio art, film, and photography. The Fellowships are supported by income from the Mortimer and Sara Hays Endowment Fund at Brandeis University and provide support for living expenses and travel outside the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Each award provides a stipend of $19,000, and is not intended to be renewable.

Eligibility for scholarship:

Yale is one of ten institutions invited to nominate four candidates to the national competition. Eligible are graduating Seniors and recent graduates of Yale College (Classes of 2008, 2009, and 2010). Preference will be given to members of the Class of 2011

How to apply:

Awards are made on the basis of merit; financial need is not a consideration. Selection criteria include the candidate’s preparation, the necessity of travel abroad to meet the goals and objectives of the project, the relationship of the project to the candidate’s professional or creative goals, awareness of resources abroad, and the appropriateness of one year as the time period for the project. The award does not normally support formal graduate study. Upon completion of the fellowship year, fellowship recipients must submit a written report summarizing their activities.
