Scholarship introduction:
The program is jointly administered by Canada’s three federal granting agencies Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) .The objective of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is to:
- attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally,
- develop their leadership potential, and
- position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.
- 70 new awards annually with a total of 140 awards active at any one time at full program implementation (at program maturity)
- the fellowships will be distributed equally across the three federal granting agencies

Luce Scholars Program 2010 for Awareness among Potential leaders in American society
Scholarship Introduction:
Launched in 1974, the Luce Scholars Program aims to provide an awareness of Asia among potential leaders in American society. Each year 15-18 scholars are chosen to participate in an individualized professional placement in one of 15 Asian countries. (Internships are arranged for each scholar on the basis of specific interests, background, qualifications and experience.) Aimed at a highly qualified group of young Americans in a variety of professional fields, it is unique among Asian-American exchange programs in placing emphasis on leaders who have had little prior experience of Asia and who might not otherwise have an opportunity during the course of their careers to come to know Asia or their Asian colleagues. The Martin A. Dale ’53 Fellowship enables an outstanding Princeton senior to devote the year following graduation to an independent project of extraordinary merit that will widen the recipient’s experience of the world and significantly enhance his or her personal growth and intellectual development. The fellowship embodies the conviction of its donor, Martin A. Dale ’53, of the transformative potential of a year-long project of focused effort and self-discovery before a new graduate embarks on the next major phase of life and career. The Dale Fellowship provides a grant of $30,000 to a current Princeton senior, which becomes available as early as July 1 following graduation; the fellow must begin his or her project no later than September 1 of the same year. One half of the grant is normally paid at the inception of the fellowship, the other half midway through the fellowship year. The 2011 Jane Freemantle Fellowship for Postgraduate student at Ormond College, Australia
Scholarship Introduction:
The Jane Freemantle Fellowship provides full board and accommodation at Ormond College, the University of Melbourne, for up to three months whilst a postgraduate student is completing her/his doctoral thesis. The Fellowship enables the student to work on their thesis uninterrupted, nurtured in an environment that fosters and encourages academic excellence. Associate Professor Jane Freemantle and her family have established the endowment to provide postgraduate students with an opportunity for academic and personal growth, and to offer support at a time of particular academic intensity. The timing of the Fellowship will be at a mutually convenient period when appropriate accommodation is available at Ormond College. Children are not ordinarily able to be accommodated at the College. The Mitchell Scholars Program is a national competitive fellowship sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. The Mitchell Scholars Program, named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell’s pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to public service and community. Scholarship Introduction:
The Beinecke Scholarship Program was established in 1971 by the Board of Directors of The Sperry and Hutchinson Company to honor Edwin, Frederick, and Walter Beinecke. The Board created an endowment to provide substantial scholarships for the graduate education of young men and women of exceptional promise.The program seeks to encourage and enable highly motivated students to pursue opportunities available to them and to be courageous in the selection of a graduate course of study in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Since 1975 the program has selected more than 470 college juniors from more than 100 different undergraduate institutions for support during graduate study at any accredited university.Each scholar receives $4,000 immediately prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school. There are no geographic restrictions on the use of the scholarship, and recipients are allowed to supplement the award with other scholarships, assistantships and research grants. n 1990, the German Chancellor Fellowships program was created under an agreement between the German and U.S. governments in the hope that future important U.S. leadership positions would be filled with people who have a first-hand knowledge of Germany. Sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the high-profile committee of political and scientific leaders, annually awards up to ten scholarships per year to prospective U.S. leaders in the academic world, in business or in politics in order to strengthen transatlantic ties.The German Chancellor Fellowships generally provide for 12 months of study/research at a German university and/or research institution. The candidate’s leadership qualities and ability to demonstrate responsibility rank at the top of the list of criteria for the selection committee. Students intending to seek careers in government and professional fields are at an advantage in the competition for these awards.Scholarship holders are free to structure their stay themselves (e.g., you may determine the location(s), institute(s), and the focus of study/research). The US Student Fulbright Program is designed to give recent college/university graduates, graduate students and young professionals, opportunities for personal and career development and international experience. Most awards are for one academic year. There are two types of Fulbright Awards:
Study/Research Grants: Applicants for the Study/Research Grant plan their own programs. Projects may include university coursework, independent research, special projects in the creative or performing arts, or a combination.
