African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), a project of the CGIAR Gender & Diversity Program, is now accepting applications for its 2010 fellowships. AWARD offers tailored, two-year fellowships designed to fast-track the careers of African women scientists and professionals delivering pro-poor agricultural research and development that benefits rural communities, especially women. The Centre of African Studies offers The Smuts Research Fellowships for the year 2010/11 in Africa
The Centre of African Studies invites applications for the Smuts Research Fellowship in African Studies, from candidates at the postdoctoral level in all disciplines within the humanities and social sciences. Ideally applicants will have gained a PhD (or equivalent) within the last five years or will have gained a PhD by the time of the appointment. The appointment will be from 1 October 2010 for a period of three years, and is non-renewable.

The Centre of African Studies offers The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships for the year 2010/12 in Africa
This two-year postdoctoral fellowship will be held jointly at the Centre of African Studies and the Department of History and Philosophy of Science. The Fellow will be housed in the Centre and the post administered from there. He/she will report to the Director and Management Committee. The stated aims of the Mellon Postdoctoral scheme include the fostering of connections between different departments of the University and the encouragement of cross-disciplinary work and teaching.

The African Crop Science Society offers The Postgraduate Training Fellowships to Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries for the year 2010/11 in South Africa
This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country. Awarded to a female student for full time study at Honours (4th year) level in Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering at any South African University. Successful applicant should become actively involved in SAWISE. Element Six will arrange a visit to their research lab for the successful applicant, and they would like a copy of the awardee’s major research project at the end of the year.

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE) offers The ANGUS SAWISE Scholarships for the year 2010/11 to a Sub Saharan Black Woman Graduate in Africa
Each year SA WISE awards the Angus Scholarship, to a Sub-Saharan black woman graduate with 70% or above grade average in her subject of study. The scholarship is awarded for 1 year of tertiary study at Honours level (or 4th year level of study) in any field of science and engineering. South African applicants will be given preference. The successful applicant should become an active member of SAWISE.

The Economic and Social Research Foundation and The Ford Foundation offer The International Fellowships Program for the year 2010/11 to Tanzania and East Africa Nationals in Africa
The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) was started in East Africa in the year 2000, with a regional secretariat based at the Inter University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) offices, Kampala, Uganda. In order to serve the East African region effectively, the Program opened offices in Kenya and Tanzania in October 2003. The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) is hosting the program in Tanzania, and the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is the host in Kenya. The Association for Higher Education Advancement and Development (AHEAD) is hosting the program in Uganda.

The Association of International Schools in Africa offers The AISA Scholarships Opportunities for the year 2010/11 to Teachers and Administrators in Africa
Each year AISA awards scholarships to teachers or administrators in a full member AISA school who are attending a Principals’ Training Centre (PTC) Course or the Teachers’ Training Centre (TTC) Course respectively. Selection is made at the Spring AISA board meeting and notification is sent to applicants immediately following that meeting.
