The 2011 Jane Freemantle Fellowship for Postgraduate student at Ormond College, Australia

Scholarship Introduction:

The Jane Freemantle Fellowship provides full board and accommodation at Ormond College, the University of Melbourne, for up to three months whilst a postgraduate student is completing her/his doctoral thesis. The Fellowship enables the student to work on their thesis uninterrupted, nurtured in an environment that fosters and encourages academic excellence. Associate Professor Jane Freemantle and her family have established the endowment to provide postgraduate students with an opportunity for academic and personal growth, and to offer support at a time of particular academic intensity. The timing of the Fellowship will be at a mutually convenient period when appropriate accommodation is available at Ormond College. Children are not ordinarily able to be accommodated at the College. Applications are now open for the Jane Freemantle Fellowship at Ormond College, which provides one post graduate student each year with full board and accommodation for up to three months whilst completing a doctoral thesis at Ormond College. University of Sydney provides postgraduate scholarship in structural studies of hydrophobins protiens and protein self assembly.A full time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in biochemistry. Melbourne Global Scholarship for Undergraduates at University of Melbourne,2011-2012

Scholarship Introduction:

The Melbourne Scholarships Program aims to reward and provide access to a world class university for the best Australian and international students. Dependent upon funding. Usually approximately 30-40 scholarships are awarded to Study Abroad students and approximately 150 are awarded to Exchange students. Please note that Exchange students are automatically considered for a Melbourne Global Scholarship but funds are not guaranteed.

Eligibility for Scholarship:

Applicant to be eligible for scholarship must :

  • be receiving faculty credit for their overseas study program, studying overseas full time,
  • have a minimum 70.00% weighted grade point average across their entire current course (not only in the degree for which they will receive credit)
  • and not have already received a Melbourne Global Scholarship.
  • have completed certain number of points in current course:
  1. exchange students must have completed 50points
  2. study abroad students must have completed 75 points.

Benefits from Scholarships:

$2500 for more than 12 weeks
$1000 for less than 12 weeks

Number available: up to 800

Selection is based on academic merit.

How to Apply:

Students undertaking study abroad/other credit bearing programs apply by completing an application form ()  and submitting it the the Melbourne Scholarships Office 6 weeks before departure. Exchange students do not apply as they are automatically considered. Students undertaking study abroad and other credit bearing programs.

Outcome of Scholarship:

Exchange students

  • end of May (for travel in May-October)
  • end of October (for travel in November-April)

Study abroad/Other credit bearing programs

Approximately 4 weeks after the form has been submitted to the Melbourne Scholarship Office.

Last date to apply:

Applicant must submit an application to the Melbourne Scholarships Office 6 weeks before departure.

The University of Western Austarlia and The Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust offers Undergraduate Scholarships for the year 2011/12 in Australia

The Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust is an independent organization sponsored by the principal Australian ex-service associations. It was established in 2003 by the former Vietnam Veterans Trust, as a lasting legacy from Australia’s use of the Agent Orange Funds.  The role of AVCAT is to help the disadvantaged children and grandchildren of those who have served this country in peace and war in the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force. AVCAT administers bursaries and scholarships that help those children of the veteran community with the costs of tertiary education.  The bursaries and scholarships are funded by direct donations to AVCAT and from the Australian Government, ex-service organisations, firms and private individuals sponsoring scholarships.

The University of Adelaide offers The Adelaide Fee Scholarships International (AFSI) to outstanding international students from any country undertaking postgraduate research in any academic discipline for the year 2011 in Australia

Up to 15 scholarships may be available in 2011 to outstanding international students from any country undertaking postgraduate research in any academic discipline. Benefits are payment of full tuition fees for the normal duration of the program. The sole selection criteria for the Adelaide Fee Scholarships International (AFSI) will be academic merit. Unlike the IPRS, the AFSI applicants do not need to be applying to an area of research strength in the University.
