The OPEC Fund for International Development offers The OFID Scholarship Awards for the year 2010/11 in Austria
OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2010/2011. The OFID scholarship will be awarded to support one student or candidate for Master’s degree studies. The applicant may be from any developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, in any recognized university/college in the world. Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a scholarship of up to US$100,000. The funds will be spread over a maximum of two years, toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year 2010/2011.

The Vienna PhD School of Informatics is an international PhD School, funded by the Vienna University of Technology (TU Vienna), the City of Vienna and private sponsors. PhD students for this full-time programme are recruited world-wide, all courses are held in English. The PhD School is located at TU Vienna and admits Austrian as well as international students annually. TU Vienna invites applications for a maximum of 15 PhD scholarships per year. The first study year of the PhD School started in October 2009. No tuition fees have to be paid by these holders of scholarships.

The Graz University of Technology offers Two PhD positions in Mixed Signal Processing and System Engineering for Communication Systems for the year 2010/11 in Austria
The Signal Processing and Speech Communication (SPSC) Laboratory at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) in Graz, Austria, has immediate openings for two PhD student positions. TU Graz has been founded in 1811 and its SPSC Lab in 2000. Since then, this lab has grown to 25+ fulltime researchers from 15 nationalities, working in the fields of nonlinear signal processing, mixed-signal circuits and systems, UWB communications, machine learning and adaptive systems, speech communication, and microphone array processing. SPSC students have won 10 best student paper awards at top international conferences since 2004, filed more than 20 patents in the same period, and receive funding in the framework of several excellence programs like the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Nonlinear Signal Processing, the Competence Network for Advanced Speech Technologies, the National Research Network on Signal and Information Processing in Science and Engineering, and the Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies project Advanced Audio Processing.
