The American Council for International Education offers The Italy Classics Program for the year 2010 to US Citizens  at the American Academy in Rome and two weeks with the Vergilian Society at Cumae.

The 2010 Classics Seminar in Italy is an eight-week seminar including six weeks at the American Academy in Rome and two weeks with the Vergilian Society at Cumae. The program in Rome is designed to provide its participants with an understanding of the development of the ancient city of Rome and its immediate environs. The progam at Cumae focuses on the social history of ancient Greeks, Romans, and others along the Bay of Naples.

Students have the opportunity to spend a semester or an academic year directly enrolled at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (The Bocconi University or UNI-BOCCONI) in Milan, Italy. Founded in 1902, Bocconi University was the first Italian university to grant degrees in economics and is internationally recognized as a leader in the fields of economics, business, and law. Students can choose from a wide range of business and economics courses offered in English. Students have the opportunity to take an intensive three to four week Italian language course before the beginning of the Bocconi semester. This non-credit course is offered at the beginning, intermediate, post-intermediate and advanced levels.

Fellowships 2009 Available For Post-Doctoral Students At European University Institute – Italy 2009

Fellowship Description:
Through its Jean Monnet Fellowship Programme the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) offers fellowships to post-docs in an early stage of their academic career.
While at the RSCAS, fellows work on a selected topic that fits with the research profile of the RSCAS and they are expected to participate actively in the academic life of the Centre and the EUI.
Each fellow is assigned a professorial mentor. Their stay at the Centre should result in the publication of either a RSCAS working paper or a publication in a scientific journal or with an appropriate publishing house.
Applications should include a description of the applicant’s planned research project while at the Centre.
The main criteria of selection are the CV of the applicant, the overall scientific quality of the proposal, and the fit of the proposal with the Centre’s research programme.
Priority is given to proposals that fit well with one or more of the Centre’s core research themes: Institutions, Governance, and Democracy; Migration; Economic and Monetary Policy; Competition Policy and Market Regulation; Energy Policy; and International and Transnational Relations.
Two of the fellowships are awarded to candidates working on European Comparative Politics or European Comparative History as ‘Vincent Wright Fellowships’, in memory of the distinguished political scientist, Vincent Wright.
The Institute for Democracy Constantinos Karamanlis funds the Karamanlis Fellowship on Democracy which is awarded in the framework of the European Observatory on Democracy (EUDO) project.
The RSCAS also appoints Research Fellows. In addition to doing research, Research Fellows are meant to make a substantial contribution to the coordination, fundraising and research management in one of the main research areas of the Centre. Appointments are for one to three years and are renewable up to a total of 5 years.
