HESA/IBSA Trilateral Programme 2010-NRF-South Africa

Posted by sakshi on

The National Research Foundation (NRF) offers The HESA/IBSA Trilateral Programme for cooperation in the field of Higher education for the year 2010 in South Africa

As established by the Brasilia Declaration, the main objective of IBSA is to increase collaboration between India, Brazil and South Africa to the mutual benefit of all three nations. As such the most important requirement of the proposal applications submitted in response to this call – apart from the excellence and future potential of the research to be conducted – is a clear demonstration of the joint nature of research activities, with teams from all three countries to constitute a consortium and each to be allocated an equal and necessary part of the work. At the same time this initiative funded by Higher Education South Africa (HESA), applications contributing to the national priorities of capacity building, equity and the redress of historical inequalities are encouraged, with the prime measure of such contribution being the involvement of a large number of students, particularly from historically disadvantaged socioeconomic population groups, and the participation of researchers from historically disadvantaged institutions, either as principal investigators or team members. In this regard networking activities should also be extended as far as possible to young researchers and future project leaders, so that the IBSA initiative as a whole will not begin and end with the current crop of experienced principal investigators.
