The Royal Society of Edinburgh offers The Henry Dryerre Scholarships for the year 2010/11 in UK

In 1989 the Society received the whole estate of the late Mrs Agnes Dryerre, to establish a fund to be used principally to support research in physiology. The Fund is named after her late husband, Henry Dryerre, who was a Professor of Physiology at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College, Edinburgh University. The Henry Dryerre Scholarship supports postgraduate research in medical or veterinary physiology and was awarded for the first time in 1991. This award is normally tenable for a period of three years in a Scottish Higher Education Institution, and is administered for the Society by the  Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.

The SORSAS, funded by the Scottish Funding Council, is designed to attract high quality research students to Scottish Universities. The awards are open to overseas students undertaking a research degree and may be held in any field of study. Wingate Scholarships are offered for the year 2010/11 to UK and EU Students in UK

Wingate Scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals of great potential or proven excellence who need financial support to undertake creative or original work of intellectual, scientific, artistic, social or environmental value and to musicians for advanced training. Awards are offered for independent research in most subjects, and aim to provide funding for multi-disciplinary projects that may not fall into any of the conventional funding categories. The scholarships are designed to help with the costs of a specific project lasting up to three years. The maximum award for one year is £10,000, although the trustees are seldom able to provide this amount.
